If you feel able to continue past that first breath and your mind wanders, know that that’s ok. It’s the nature of the mind to wander. Allow your thought to pass like a cloud in a blue sky and gently bring your attention back to your breath.

Anger is one of those emotions that we like to lab

Anger is one of those emotions that we like to label as ugly or unhelpful. We’re often ashamed to feel angry. Yet anger, like all emotions, is valid. Under some circumstances it can be a powerful, energetic tool to stand up for injustice.

In our daily lives, not recognising anger or pushing it away is when it can become unhelpful. When it becomes unresolved it festers and hurts us.

Where do you feel anger? That’s important. I feel it in my stomach. When I want to let anger go, I focus my breath on the area of my body I feel it most. Recognise your anger, talk to it, breathe into it and visualise letting it go on your out breath. Keep breathing until you feel your body and mind relax.

It can take time to understand anger. Stay with your breath.

Mindscape is a low cost, online group that meets monthly for creative writing and meditation sessions.

Mindscape offers writers, meditators and self-development seekers of all abilities the chance to write creative and reflective material, enhance creativity and strengthen sense of self by combining writing with meditation.

Sitting down to write and simply be with yourself becomes rooted in compassion, awareness and clarity rather than like partaking in a battle you can’t win.

Sessions cost £12.50 for two hours. You can book one off sessions or a series. If you book three or more sessions at the same time you will receive a 10% discount!

Sessions take place online on Thursdays between 6.30 - 8.30 pm, GMT.
